Laila Majid explores the ways in which images, objects and surfaces are imbued with desire, considering how our material and visual cultures leave traces on and within our bodies. Through this, she interrogates the boundaries of the corporeal and the desire to shape-shift beyond them.

Laila Majid (b. 1996, Abu Dhabi) is an artist based in London. She is currently studying MSt in Film Aesthetics at University of Oxford, having previously studied MA Fine Art at Slade School of Fine Art and BA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design. Solo exhibitions include healthy pink, springseason, London and hold my hand by the tail, Transition Two, London. Recent group exhibitions include City Entwined, Paradise Row, London; MELTDOWN, Ridley Road Project Space, London; New Contemporaries 2021, Firstsite, Colchester and South London Gallery, London; NUDE, Fotografiska, Stockhol; Creep Vector, Virtual livestream, Gossamer Fog, London.
